Zech 3:4
”Then the Angel said to those who were standing before him, take off his filthy clothes …and I will put fine garments on him.”
For the past few days, we have been sharing on the wearing of spiritual garments as a form of identity, dignity and protection. However, I have come to observe that before God decorates your life with beauty for ashes you must first learn to put off your old garment;your old garment of desolation just as the following people did.
— Tamar (Gen 38.)
After losing two husbands on a trot and being denied the next of kin as a husband, she finally put away her widowhood attire and prepared herself for a new life.(Gen 38:14) This led to her involvement with Judah, thereby becoming a direct ancestor to our Lord.(Matt 1:3)
— King Jehoiachin (Jer 52:31-34).
When King Jehoiachin was released from the Babylonian prison, he put aside those prison clothes before he could eat at the king’s table.(Jer 52 :33). It’s time to cast aside any cloak of limitation.
— Blind Bartimaeus
“And throwing his cloak aside, he jumped on his feet and came to Jesus”. Mark 10:50.
Bartimaeus understood that the only way to embrace the new life in Christ was to throw away the beggarly life of the past.
Dear friend, I challenge you to rid yourself of every garment of sin, desolation, disappointment or failure.
It’s a new day and God wants to do a new work in your life. The Bible says God will “bestow on you beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, and the garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.” (Isa 61: 3) To put on the new man, you must first put off the old man.
The choice is yours today!
